Sir,

HK

DOWNING STREET.

arch, 1926.

With reference to your letter of the 28th

December,1925, No.C.E.in 0.6229/25/135b, on the subject

of housing accommodation for Admiralty employees at Họng

Kong. I am directed by är Secretary Amory to request you

to inform the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty that

he has been in telegraphic communication with the

Governor of Hong Kong as to the area of land and

buildings which the Admiralty desire to obtain.

The Governor has now reported that the

financial position, due to the boycott by Canton of trade

with Hong Kong, will not permit the Colony to proceed with

the military reprovision scheme; in these circumstances

the Government of Hong Kong regrets that it will not be

in a position to hand over to the Naval Authorities the

land and buildings desired.

THE SECRETARY,

THE ADMIRALTY,

I am, Sir,

Your most obedient Servant,

(Signed) 3. GRINDLE
